An Ayurvedic Solution of Renal Parenchyma Disease

Major function of kidneys is to filter the waste products from the blood. The kidneys reabsorb usable electrolytes and filter the remaining waste into urine. Renal parenchyma cells are the functional part of the kidney that includes the renal cortex and the renal medulla.

Renal parenchymal disease, also termed medical renal disease, includes various disorders of the glomeruli, interstitium, tubules, and small blood vessels of the kidneys. In this disease Kidneys loses the ability to function normal leads to a gradual kidney failure.

Causes;

Causes can be genetic, secondary to other pathologies and bacterial or viral infections .Genetic conditions, like polycystic kidneys, hereditary conditions passed on from parents, other causes includes;

  • Bacterial and viral infections
  • Kidney pathologies like kidney stones
  • Secondary to high blood pressure or diabetes. Autoimmune diseases like lupus nephritis or nephritis also toxic medications and chemicals.

Patients may be asymptomatic early on. As kidney failure progresses, patients can feel lethargic, weak, short of breath, and present with generalized swelling.

Sign and symptoms;

As the kidneys regulate the amount of fluid in the body and adjust the salts in the blood to reflect metabolic activity and hormonal functions, common signs & symptoms include:

  • Swelling of hands/feet/eyes and abdomen (edema)
  • Rise in blood pressure
  • Anemia
  • Changes in bone
  • Blood in the urine
  • Loss of appetite,
  • Itching
  • Nausea & vomiting,
  • Fatigue
  • Joint pain,
  • Frequent night urination
  • Dizziness.

Renal parenchymal diseases can cause renal fibrosis and scarring which will ultimately lead to renal failure if not treated in time. Treatment of renal parenchymal disease depends on the under lying cause .The disease is not curable in most of the case but with Ayurveda it can be managed effectively.
